Easter is the day that makes every other day have purpose, meaning, significance. Without the resurrection of Jesus, every other intervention of God, as dramatic or sentimentally endearing as they may be are of no ultimate consequence. Without the sacrifice of Jesus–dying for our sins–there would be no forgiveness. But even the death of Jesus would not save if the Father had not raised the Son to life. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead. and “Because He lives, we also shall live”. The world is forever changed becasue Christ the Lord is risen. And our hearts are forever changed when the life of the Risen One is risen in us.

Lent is the 40 Days before Easter, not counting Sundays, during which we remember Christ’s 40 days of fasting prayer in the wilderness before He began his public ministry. It’s a good time to take a peek under the hood and see how our soul is doing. Not with condemnation, but with openness to God. Simply praying–”Lord Jesus Christ, reveal your heart to me,” or any other prayer you feel led to follow.
Just taking the time to get quiet will do wonders for you.
During this Lent the church leadership team (board members) have covenanted together to fast every Wednesday for personal growth and corporate blessing. We believe God has put us here to make a difference and by His grace we are. Specifically, I’m asking you to think of 4 or 5 unchurched or unsaved friends, neighbors or relatives who don’t seem like they have a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ.
We’re going to be building a prayer list that a group of intercessors will pray for each Friday, trusting God to prepare their hearts for and invitation to the Easter services.
The names will be collected beginning Sunday, February 8 so look for cards in the worship folders.
God changes lives in answer to prayer. I don’t know how it works, and I don’t know why He needs us to pray and act for the salvation of souls. But He does so we will.
