Since we were unable to have VBS this year as a result of the lack of available adult volunteers, we decided to offer an alternative summer family activity. Everyone– of any age– is invited to join us at Rankin Park for a picnic and afternoon of fellowship!
Rankin Park, located near downtown Martinez, is a beautiful park with plenty of parking and recently-renovated picnic areas. The church has reserved a large picnic area and will be providing hot dogs and the appropriate condiments. We invite families to come on down, bring a side dish or dessert to share, and join us for lunch and then an afternoon of fellowship. There are a variety of options your family will have to choose from– there is a great playground right next to the picnic area, or a pool across the parking lot (only about $15-18 per family on average if you choose to take your family swimming), horseshoe pits… We will also bring some of our own recreation equipment.
Your family is welcome to come and join us for lunch and then free to choose how to spend the rest of the afternoon–
Cooling off in the pool, enjoying the playground, chatting around a board game with others from the church. You are also more than welcome to invite other friends and family! The more the merrier!
We hope you and your family will join us for a fun afternoon!! Please be sure to sign up at the Welcome Desk in the foyer so we can plan on how many will be attending.
Saturday, July 23rd
12 noon– 4pm-ish
Rankin Park— Buckley St. Martinez, CA 94553
Please sign up at the welcome desk, so we can plan enough food!!
P.S. Sunscreen will be a must! We will be bringing some easy-up tents but there isn’t much shade. Please feel free to bring any easy-up tents you may own, and please be sure to wear sunscreen and hats to protect yourself, as it should be hot and sunny that day.
